Cottage Renovation + Extension
Winner: Master Builder Association 2012
This award winning renovation project involved the renovation of an existing cottage and a large modern extension to the rear.
The extension includes a large amount of exposed steel beams which frame the exterior Terricade cladding by Austral.
There is also a large amount of hardwood flooring used, the interior floor boards and stair treads are Australian spotted gum and the exterior decking is Merbau. The large internal stair case feature wall is clad with Australian blue stone which contrasts well with the vivid white ceiling and wall paint with P50 shadow line detail to all wall and ceiling junctions.
The windows are anodized aluminium finish and include sliding doors, louver windows and fixed pain windows.
The project also included the renovation of the existing cottage including new timber flooring, new painting and the removal of the existing tiled roof and replacement with colour bond metal sheeting.
Jakin also undertook the landscaping works which included large amounts of excavation to form the terraces, concrete block retaining walls, turfing, external stairs decking and screening, a new concrete driveway and the installation of a rain water tank for irrigation and car washing.
