Elegance in the Hills
Nominated 2014 Master Builders Association: Traditional or Geometric Pools $50,001 – $100,000
This extremely elegant swimming pool and entertainer’s area was built to be integrated as part of the indoor/outdoor flow of the home…as well as the pool construction the project required full landscaping (gardens, lawns and trees and garden lighting).
To be built in the picturesque suburb of Glenhaven, NSW, after much research by the owners Jakin Pools and Landscaping were chosen as the preferred swimming pool builder due to the quality of our work, our fixed price quote and because of our experience in being able to handle the difficult access. The excavation and materials handling was a challenge due to limited width down the side of the house as well as the steep change in height from the street level to the swimming pool level. All of these difficulties were overcome with ease by clever planning and also by the fact that we undertake all of our excavation in house so quality management and time scheduling is always paramount. The swimming pool measures 9m x 4m with a large swim out at the shallow end. On two sides of the pool the wall continues out of the ground to form planter boxes with hedged screening plants.
The interior finish of the pool is Aristone (crisp Blue) and the water line and step indicator tiles are glass mosaics. The swimming pool coping and pool surround tiles are travertine. At the centre of the shallow end a 1200mm power stream water feature falls from the wall giving the illusion of cascading water coming down from the planter box level above.
The equipment was set up for minimal maintenance and maximum ease of use which is synonymous to Jakin Pools & Landscaping. All of the equipment, gas heating, pool lighting and garden lighting are controlled by an LED control panel located inside the house. From this everything is automated including the filtration and polaris cleaner so it automatically comes on twice daily. This was a huge benefit to the owners David and Stephanie as they are overseas often and this way don’t have to worry about the day to day running of their pool whilst away
Our sister division Jakin Constructions took care of the alfresco area – a 6 metre extension to their existing small 3 metre alfresco. This was a complete renovation with the building of bulkheads which contained a bank of LED dimmable lights, the actual alfresco was completed with 3 radiant heaters, two ceiling fans and flush mounted speakers connected to the AMP inside the house. A purpose built skytube was installed that was then finished flush to the ceiling with an opaque glass to ensure natural lighting during the day.
As well as the swimming pool build, Jakin Pools & Landscaping also undertook the laying of concrete slabs and tiling for the outdoor entertaining area, the transplanting of the large established hedge, the construction of a new level grassed area adjacent to the pool, the frameless glass fencing, rendering and painting of the existing house and retaining walls and also the upgrade of services to meet the demands of the new pool.
